Pet Care

Sure it’s a great night for you – but it can be hell for your pet!

The RSPCA recommends the following actions for all pet owners:

Put your pets inside – this is the most important step you can take.  Put them in the garage, laundry or just in the house generally.

If you are leaving your pet inside, it is suggested you put on some calm music, which will mask the sound of the fireworks. Ideally, it is great to leave your pet with someone else in the house.

If you can’t get them inside – put them somewhere they can’t escape.  Check all fences, gates etc to make sure they are secure.

If your pet is very sensitive to loud noises, it is suggested you speak your vet prior to 104.7’s Skyfire 21 to get some options on how to make them most comfortable.

You can buy natural relaxants for your pets to keep them calm.

Most importantly, remember to have your pets ID and colar on them in case the worst case scenario happens and they do go missing.

Try to keep everything calm in the pets surroundings to try and make it as comfortable as possible.
