Woden Wanderers Cricket Club 10th Anniversary Function 630pm - 7pm

The Woden Wanderers Cricket Club (WWCC) is 10 years old this season.

And we're inviting all past players, partners, sponsors and friends of the Wanderers to our upcoming dinner to celebrate this milestone.

We are fortunate to have secured the services of former Australian Test cricketer Dean Jones as our speaker for the evening.

Since we kicked it all off in 2000 a great number of players, sponsors and supporters have contributed to the growth and success of the Wanderers, making us now one of the largest Clubs in the Canberra City & Suburban Cricket Association, fielding 5 teams over the last two seasons.

The incredible support you have provided over the years has lead to our Club claiming our first premiership wins with 1st Grade winning back to back Premierships in 07/08 & 08/09, and narrowly missing in two 3rd Grade Grand Finals in 06/07 & 07/08.

Last year we made our debut appearance in the fourth grade Grand Final where rain washed out the first days’ play and sadly we lost in a tight tussle replay the next day,

To mark our achievements over the years a formal dinner is being held on Saturday 27 March, 2010 and the committee hope you and your guest/s are able to attend. Details are as follows:

Oriana Chorale - Songs of Sundrie Natures 5pm

The Oriana Chorale, conducted by their new Music Director, David Mackay, will present a concert of sacred and secular a cappella works from Tudor and Jacobean England on Saturday and Sunday, the 27th and 28th of March at 5pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Manuka, ACT.

At the heart of this musical offering are the towering figures of Thomas Tallis and his student William Byrd who later became his collaborator. The programme explores the relationship between the two composers, which changed with the years and with the political and religious climate of the English court in the 16th century. The Oriana Chorale will trace their story in both song and the spoken word and display the heritage of music from Tudor England through the works of Byrd and Tallis, as well as Orlando Gibbons and Thomas Tomkins. They will explore how the Reformation led to a preference for English words over Latin, and the simpler melodies and harmonies of homophony over the complexities of polyphony.

Tickets are available from Canberra Ticketing (02 6275 2700) and at the door ($40 full, $30 concessions, $15 students).
