Ainslie Football Club - Call to Arms 2.00pm

Ainslie Football Club
& the Call to Arms Campaign

The Ainslie Football Club through its players will be supporting the Call to Arms Cancer awareness program and fundraiser.
In their match against Tuggeranong on Saturday 3 July at Greenway Oval, the Ainslie Senior and Reserve Grade teams will wear Yellow socks and armbands as a symbol of their support for the Call to Arms cause and in trying to spread the message about the related facts.
Players from both Grades will be donating a percentage of their match payments along with funds from other fundraising efforts.
Ainslie players took upon themselves to raise some much needed funds after reading facts such as;
 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they turn 85.
 More than 62,500 Australian men are expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year.
 While cancer is one of the leading causes of death among Australian men, around one third of all cancers can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices.
 Excluding non-melanoma skin cancers, the most common cancers facing men in Australia are prostate, bowel, melanoma and lung cancer. Prostate cancer is more common in men than breast cancer is in women.
Funds raised will help prevent and detect cancers in men, find new treatments, as well as support men in need by funding the Cancer Council's important cancer research, prevention and support programs.
Ainslie Football Club President, Mr. Ian Muir, said; “We as a Club here at Ainslie are very proud that our Players have taken it upon themselves to get involved and have chosen such a worthy cause as the Call to Arms campaign to get behind and make an effort to help. It is a terrific and much worthwhile campaign and we support the Players in their efforts and endeavors.
